    K3b not loading

After upgrading to the latest version of gutsy, K3b decided not to load anymore.
It just keeps pretending to load and then disappears.

Checked permissions, made the desktop icon/file executable, started it as root. No success.

Is this a bug or am I missing out on something important?

works fine here, could you try launching from the command line ? What's the output ? Also, do you see it installed in Adept or Synaptic ? Have you tried re-installing it ?

BTW, these are my k3b installed packages

      Code:
      root@grisell:~# dpkg -l |grep k3b

ii k3b 1.0.3-0ubuntu4 A sophisticated KDE CD burning application
rc k3blibs 0.12.8-1ubuntu1 The KDE cd burning application library - run
ii libk3b2 1.0.3-0ubuntu4 The KDE cd burning application library - run
ii libk3b2-mp3 1.0.3-0ubuntu4 The KDE cd burning application library - MP3

        Thank you for the response.
I have tried re-installing it. No change.
Adept and Synaptic both show it as installed.
Command line does nothing. Just sits there.

I installed some of the files shown in your mostrecent post.
        No change.

        Sorry.

Two things come to mind, that you could try:

          1. Maybe there are permission problems ? I'd try "sudo k3b" from the command line and see if it starts

          2. Maybe config problems ? I would probably rename or remove all the k3b* files in
          /home/your_name/.kde/share/config/ and try again.

          Good luck!

Yes, sad to say, K3b remains broken.

                However, brasero works just fine.

                  Re: K3b not loading

                  Removed K3b including configuration files.
                  Re-installed.

                  No go.

                  Error message:

"ERROR: Communication problem with k3b, it probably crashed.
pjj@pjj-desktop:~$ kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KActionCollection::KActionCollection( QObject *parent, const char *name, KInstance *instance )

                  (K3bDevice:evice) /dev/hdb: init()"

So, I'll crank up Dapper Drake and use K3b there.
                  Also will try Brasero.

                    Re: K3b not loading

                    K3b works fine here...
Installed Kubuntu Dapper, and upgraded as upgrades came. Dunno if it affects it.

Oh, and you might consider purging K3b, rather than uninstalling it. See if that makes a difference.

I believe I did purge it before deleting.
Can I check for remaining configuration files, etc?
