    [SOLVED] KMail

Just did fresh install of .710.
    Have a partition with 7.04.
Copied all my kmail directory form .kde on my 7.04 partition to the 7.10 partition.
All the folders in inbox are there as are all the email info but no email account information. Is that in another folder I am unaware of.
Yes I can just enter them all again (whew) but seems I should just be able to import it or copy them over some how.

    Thanks.

    Re: KMail

The actual mail (folders, email, etc) is stored in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail, but the settings/account info is stored in ~/.kde/share/config/ .I have 5 file in there, kmailrc. kmail.eventsrc, and kmailsnippetrc, as well as emaildefaults and emailidentities. You can probably ignore email.eventsrc, unless you have some custom email notification set up, and kmailsnippetrc is new to me, I don't have a clue what its for. But those config files will have all your settings and accounts info

Thank you claydoh, that did the trick. It's also going on a sticky for future reference.

After I first installed 7.10 I tried coping the whole .kde directory from my 7.04 but that did not go over well at all. Is it because 7.04 and 7.10 are differnet kde versions?

Again thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Yes feisty had kde 3.5.6 (I think, it's been a while) and gutsy has kde 3.5.8.

I believe the ubuntu gutsy install has a import function from one user to another if you have all your users in a separate /home partition. I am not sure about kubuntu though. I'll have to check that out over the weekend.

One more reason to have a separate /home partition
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
        4 GB Ram
        Kubuntu 18.10

Yes, I agree. I have been using the same home partition (and files/configs for that matter) from Edgy with no issue I can remember, heck my email files and settings I think goes back to at least Dapper, and a few of the emails and folders folders go back to the KDE2 days

Would either of you be able to give a quick how to or a link to a separate home.
I have plenty of disk space and as soon as I feel secure with 7.10, 7.04 will be an empty partition, except for a new home partition !!!!!

            Thank you again.

                  Re: [SOLVED] KMail

Home on own partition works great, except that one of my required programs Win4LinPro no longer works.
Was working before moving home, now I need to figure out why it won't work.
I am sure it's some set up file it issue, but that's for another site altogether.
                  Thanks again.
