i confirm Xgl as being the cause for the log-out bug. as well as my flashing drop down anoyance.

Thanks guys, removing the xserver-xgl file has given me my buttons back. So I can confirm that this works.

Now the next thing is to get kicker back on startup.

Ok scratch that, it was all working fine.....

Then i lost most of the applets on the kicker bar, then I lost my wireless connection and it wouldn't come back up again.

Finally after a few reboots I got the network manager running, but it shut down the conection 3 times before it seems to have stabilised.

Hmmmm def not as safe to use as on fiesty.
