Me Too! No big deal though, I went with it and it said I was up
to date. My only problem is I can't get my Kaffeine and
other preinstalled programs to play multimedia. So I did the
usual and downloaded VLC until I get all the codecs, or
dependency issues worked out. My Ubuntu side with Linux
Mint is fine right out of the shoot with just an upgrade
of some files. Wish my Kubuntu was so easy. Linux Mint
is Ubuntu though, and the distro is out of Ireland.

Me too face same problem and went with that and at last it said your system is up to date.

Same here, tells me I need to upgrade. They really shoulda waited another month to release 7.10 me thinks. Ubuntu 7.10 is ever more full of bugs.

I have Ubuntu 7.10 and Kubuntu 7.10 on the same machine .. and it appears that Ubuntu itself has far fewer issues that Kubuntu. So .. I'd say that maybe Kubuntu should have been held a few days, not Ubuntu.

Ditto on the repeated question to upgrade!! Feisty did the same thing for me, but eventually that was corrected. I think the same probably would apply here. Give it a while. It will settle down in a couple of weeks. Feisty settled down, and I never had issue once it did. I know Gutsy will be similar.

I pushed that "Version Upgrade" button at 3 different times over the weekend. All it comes up with are a handful of "no longer supported" bits, which it fails to remove anyway. Just ignore it.

I read somewhere that this is a bug and has been reported. I use synaptic
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
                  4 GB Ram
                  Kubuntu 18.10

I did the "version upgrade" thingy two times because the upgrade message kept popping up. The upgrade program did shut down the adept manager though, and it looked like it was doing something (newbie here, can't explain much). The second time it showed me the message " your system is up-to-date, installation will now stop" and that was it! no more messages. I am sure that I have a successful Gutsy upgrade now.

You can test that by doing:
                      lsb_release -a
                      in a terminal.
You should see something like this:
                      Distributor ID: Ubuntu
                      Description: Ubuntu 7.10
                      Release: 7.10
                      Codename: gutsy

HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
                      4 GB Ram
                      Kubuntu 18.10
