Default view in Dolphin

I'd like to give dolphin a fair crack of the whip before going back to konqueror (which I really don't want to do) but I can't get it to change the default view type.

I want just two simple things.
1) The default view type to be "detail" not "preview"
2) Some sort of "tree view".

Anyone know if those are possible?

default view:
Settings > Configure Dolphin > General > Default View Mode
and you can crank that a little under
Settings > Configure Dolphin > View Modes > Details

tree view doesn't seem to be an option
