    How to add KDE4-Beta 2 to kdm?

    Hi!

    Anyone got a clue how to make Kde4 work as session in kdm in kde4 beta2?

    In beta 1 of KDE4 I could copy kde.desktop to /etc/something according to instructions but this file does not exist with that name in beta 2, or at least it vanished when I upgraded today.

    Just in case it mathers I have the AMD-64 version of gutsy installed.

    Regards,
    Erik

    seems that /usr/lib/kde4/bin/startkde is missing (at least it is in my install). Was there in beta1, so not sure where it's gone.

    Anyone know why this script is gone after upgrading to the beta 2 packages?

      You need to install 'kdebase-workspace' package (as described in the release notes: http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde4-beta2.php)

        I don't think its yet working .... I see :-

        $ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/kde4/lib
        $ export KDEDIRS=/usr/lib/kde4
        $ export PATH=/usr/lib/kde4/bin/:$PATH
        $ export KDEHOME=~/.kde4
        $ kmail
        kmail: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/kde4/lib/libkdepim.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZTI18KStaticDeleterBase

        possibly due to tha fact that we don't yet have all of the 3.93 packages ( at least for 64-bit ).
