    Installing Ndiswrapper from another computer.

I recently had to reinstall Kubuntu 7.10. In doing so I lost Compiz-fusion, and more importantly, ndiswrapper.

So, How can I get wireless support back, when I can't connect this computer to a wired connection?

If you can compile from source (I'm not sure it's possible with the default distro), download the source .tar.gz from http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/joomla/.

If you can't, download the ubuntu .deb package here. Note that you'll have to download all the dependancies too, except the ones you already have of course.

Thanks. I couldn't get it to compile on the basic Kubuntu load. Its a shame that you don't get the necessary header packages by default.

There was just one dependency that was not included, "ndiswrapper-common".

Libc6 is included in almost all distributions, and I didn't have to download Perl.

Thanks for the link. I had to fight with iwconfig to get it back online, but I'm posting from Kubuntu.

It is a shame, but the headers shouldn't be necessary. Kubuntu is primarily targeted to average desktop users, which don't compile their own programs. Judging from the number of threads about the lack of wireless drivers, it might even be better to include ndiswrapper itself.

But good to know you're all right now
