    HOT DOG - EVERYTHING WORKS!

I just finished doing a full update of my 7.10 install. Absolutely everything works, even my Toshiba Software Modem (Intel 82801 ICH6 Family). I really like the crisp, clean feel of the default KDE setup. I've managed to get all my favorite apps installed and am happily posting this from my new install. REALLY nice job, guys! 8)

I have a Toshiba A55-S1064 with 512MB RAM and so far everything has run just perfectly. I'm tri-booting Kubuntu 7.10, Puppy NOP 3.01, and XP Pro. All are coexisting peacefully. NOP is a great little distro and I really do like it, but now that I have a full working Kubuntu install, I might actually be ready to bid farewell to Windows forever.

Congratulations! And, welcome to the Kubuntu Forums. I too, have a Toshiba laptop - Satellite P105-S6147. The BIOS is 'buggy' (written to M$ standards) and sound doesn't work unless I include the "acpi=off" kernel line option. But other than that, everything else (that I've checked) works, including wireless Internet.

I'm still using Windoze, but trapped inside a VM (VMWare Player 2) for use with Quicken for Windows, as I have not yet found a Linux substitute that I want to use. I'm currently triple-booting: Kubuntu Feisty, Gutsy, and Hardy.

I'm fortunate enough to not be 'trapped' by a particular Windows app. I had only been keeping Windows around because that's what my computer customers used. Since I'm getting out of the business, once and for all, I can now concentrate on what my wife and I need/want in an OS.

As for Quicken, I'll assume you do more that simple check register entries. I've found that, for myself, HomeBank really fills my needs nicely. Wished that the repositories for Kubuntu had a more up to date version. I have version 3.3 installed here in Kubuntu, but 3.8 is the most recent and I believe the version I'm running in NOP 3.01 is 3.6. I'm not Linux-wise enough yet to know if there is an easy way to update the version installed by Adept Manager using some other means. Think I might drop a suggestion over on the 'New Feature Requests' board.

Thank you for the info on HomeBank. I'll look into that.
