Hi, I'm trying to install gutsy but I cannot figure out a way of doing this, everything seems to fail, right now my system is a complete mess.
I partitioned the disk to try Hardy with KDE4, I already had Feisty. For whatever reason, perhaps a broken download, I couldn't install it. So I decided to upgrade my Feisty partition using adept. The process went fine, I had to upgrade ~200mb of current packages, plus 910mb of the new ones, that was a 11h download. The process failed because of a library, it asked me to report the bug which I did and that was the end of it. Now I have feisty with 946 downgraded packages, I have to redownload another 800mb, that's frustrating.
So I downloaded the gusty iso instead. The installation is a mess, either I end up with a prompt or with an indistinguishable safe graphics mode. Luckily I remembered most of the feisty installation so I didn't have to guess. Now after the installation, I cannot log in. The boot process locks while trying to load rc.d IIRC.
Now I'm not sure what to do next, any suggestions will be appreciated.
