Hi guys, my first post in Kubuntu forum and also a complete newbie under linux world. I'm just giving my first few steps under linux world, so please be patient.
I bought a new laptop, an ACER Aspire 5520 (AMD 64 Athlon X2, 1GB Ram, nVIDIA GeForce7000M, 160GB HD), but unfortnenly it came preinstalled with that weird OS called VISTA that sucks all the resources from my laptop and mess up with my brains and patient.
I followed one tutorial to have a dual boot Vista + Kubuntu to install kubuntu. I went to vista, and shrinked the main partition (C and free up space (15GB) to install Kubuntu.
I puted the kubuntu cd on laptop boot up, selected Start with safe graphics, and then made the install ok Kubuntu. Everything went well with the instalation.
I rebooted the laptop, the grub menu apear and shows me all the options: kubuntu, Kubuntu recorevery mode, Vista partition for recovery acer oem install and even the Vista that came installed with the laptop.
I select Kubuntu and it loads the screen with Kubuntu logo with the loading bar underneath, BUT NOTHING MORE HAPPENS. The loading bar doesn't move, the HD light in laptop doesn't flash, everyting is stoped !!!!!!!
I can get to Kubuntu recovery option, but I don't know what do to fix this.
Could you guys help me out? I want to start to use Kubuntu because I hate VISTA. >
I'm thinking of project to offer local support to one city of my country (Portugal) so I can offer the owners of Acer Aspire 5520 the possibility of install Kubuntu (this acer model had large sells in christmas season), but first I need to get a sucessufull instalation in my laptop, so I can make a ghost image and start to install Kubuntu in all Acers Aspire 5520 of my city (nice project don't you think?).
