    Re: Grub acting up

    Fintan,

    There are 2 different drives and 2 different /~, but the same username for both.

    After following your advice, the same thing happens with the new user.

    Thinking back, I believe it was possible to login to both, but something probably got messed up when reinstalling grub to the Gusty hd.

    Is there something else to try?

    Thank you.

      Re: Grub acting up

      Sorry for the dealy, I was very busy with other stuff (like work).

      @mike:
      Now, you may be hesitant to "risk" re-installing GRUB, perhaps?
      It couldn't goof anything up, except you might have to fix the menu.lst (and so save a backup copy of it), but even then, on just one hard drive, that probably will not happen.

      Also, I realized that SGD probably would not be able to pick up the Recovery mode, but it should boot MEPIS. Did it?
      SGD did not help much > but yes mepis boots up fine now. After having gone the eycandy route with grub-gfxboot I thought it might have been fixed as grub has to be removed and replaced by gfxboot.

      Everything EXCEPT recovery boots fine. This continues to baffle me. Any one with other ideas?

      Hmmm...I don't think this is grub issue but of course I could be wrong, maybe qmike can help. He is much more knowledgeable in grub issues.
      At the moment I am at a loss with this. Maybe something will pop up at some time.

      I do assume your /home is mounted at boot time??
