HOW MUCH disk space to upgrade to Gusty?

Tried to upgrade to Gusty last night.

Apparently I needed 1001M free space on /.... not too much of a problem, just delete 600M or so.

Tried again today, and it claimed I needed 1785M. How come the upgrade needs 790M more one day then the night before? So I deleted some more files, and tried again - all of 10 minutes later - it claims I need 1841M free. Is this some sort of a conspiracy to sell disk space?

Anyway, how can I convince it to put the downloaded files on another partition?

I don't think that's going to work.

How large is the partition where you have "/"? It needs to be 5GB or more, in the first place. I make mine 6GB.

It's currently 5.8GB, of which 1.4GB is free.

I guess I could move /usr which is where most of the data seems to be to another partition...
