Microsoft Wireless Media Remote Keyboard with Kubuntu?

    Hey all, how's it going?

    First post here.

I am currently running XP and cannot get my wireless media remote to work with it. I used Ubuntu in the past and want to try Kubuntu as per suggestion from a friend.

Will my media remote work with Kubuntu? And if so, what else do I need to know about it?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Mike

I'm using the Microsoft wireless keyboard and wireless mouse.

The keyboard is the "Microsoft Wireless Laser Keyboard 6000 v2"

The mouse is the "Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 v1.0"

They connect wirelessly to the Micrsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver v3.1"

The receiver plugs into a USB slot.

Both work fine for me under Kubuntu Gutsy, 7.10.

If you are talking about the remote and not the keyboard, I imagine you will need to install lirc in order for it to work. lirc and klirc are in the repos. There is a how to here:
