If my mind serves me correctly, the system time is read and set from the hardware clock only during boot. If your CMOS battery is nearing the end of its life, then the hardware clock is going to start loosing time as it slows down. This would create a difference between system time and machine time. How old is the PC?

OK -- reboot Windows and restart Samba and we'll see if anything is different. Tongue
EDIT: Nope.

@dible:I am at a loss as well. Restarting samba can take 10-15min in some environements.
I can't replicate the issue so apart from asking you for your smb.config I don't know.
