No sound after upgrade ! (Edgy --> Feisty)

    Hello !

I have just upgraded my system from Edgy to Feisty and now everything works but the sound. :-(
Before upgrading the sound was working just fine.

Does anyone know what could be the problem ?
Is it a knwon problem in Feisty ?

Here are the messages I get when trying to play audio in xmms:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Coundn't open audio:

    Please check that:

    Your soundcard is configured properly
You have the correct output plugin selected
No other program is blocking the soundcard

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Thanks in Advance.

Are you running a laptop or a desktop?

Let's assume the simple, and check three things first:

        1) K Menu | System Settings | Notifications | System Notifications and click the Player Settings button at the bottom right. Ensure that Use the KDE sound system is checked.
        2) K Menu | Multimedia | KMix and check that the Output isn't muted (dark green button instead of light green).
        3) K Menu | Multimedia | Alsamixergui (if it is installed) and check that the Master channel isn't muted (the speakers are white). Click to turn gray.

Check Adept Manager to see if xmms is listed as installed.

Xmms is marked as installed by Adept. As it always had been. (Edgy)

you may be missing some package that enables xmms to play through arts.
what kind of audio were you playing?

for CD audio you may need to enable digital extraction in xmms, see Options

I am trying to play my .mp3 files in Xmms. Still no sound and same error messages. I have not tried to play Audio CDs yet. I will give it shot.

                      Amarok plays everything just fine.

install all you find that begins with alsa (except the source, not needed)
