in order to view vcd i need to upgrade to xine-lib 1.1.8
after downloading the tar.gz file and extracting it. how i make the update?

Have you tried to use VLC or mplayer ? Can they play vcd's ?

could not play with vlc nor with kmplayer.
kmplayer tels me that xine is not working.
