    kmenu search / find ability

I recently switched from OpenSuse 10.2 and one of the things I really miss in KDE is the menu search ability. Is this an add on that I could install myself?

It is very handy to find that lost application from time to time.

Mmm... I don't know of anything that will do what I think you're describing, but you can hit Alt+Space to launch Katapult, which you can type into and it will match your typing against a word in a menu entry. (i.e. I have an entry "VMware Server Console" in my menu, but Katapult also matches things in your home, so I type "cons", and it matches "console".)
Of course, this is only helpful if you can recall at least one word of the name.
    For external use only.

What he is describing is SUSE's Kickoff menu, their K Menu replacement, using it's K Menu mode. So yes, it's basically something SUSE-only. But there are Kubuntu packages for it floating around in http://www.kde-apps.org or http://www.kde-look.org so better check.

I use tasty menu. It is in the repos. Install it and add it to your panel. It is nicely configurable and quick.

I didn't find tasty in the repos but KBFX looks great.

            Thanks for the recommendations.
