    occasional freeze

    hi.

I've been using Kubuntu Feisty for a while now and I'm experiencing a similar situation as posted http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...48544#msg48544.

In brief, I experience an occasional freeze whenever I'm playing some sort of media, be it video, music, etc. It happens from any multimedia player.

I have tried the following to no avail:
    - updated to the latest ALSA driver (1.0.14).
    - toggling the KDE sound system's "auto-suspend" feature and the "run with highest priority" option

Running the media player programs from the terminal produces no debug / error messages.

Does anyone have a solution/workaround for this?

Currently running Kubuntu 7.04 w/ kernel 2.6.21.5, AMD64 architecture, latest nVidia drivers, and Beryl

    Re: occasional freeze

Beryl is still in Beta form and has been known from time to time mess up with video playback. If you created a stand alone session for Beryl like is suggested, reboot. Log into your non-beryl desktop (KDE Default) and try playing the same videos. Does it still hang up? If not, then you know who the culprit is.
