    software installation trouble

I receive the following message when trying to install different programs from time to time:

Please insert the disc labeled 'Kubuntu 7.04 _Feisty Fawn_ - Release i386 (20070417)' in the drive '/cdrom/' and press enter

I put the CD i used to install feisty in the drive but it is not recognized as such.

the disk I am using is labeled:

    Kubuntu 7.04 i386 (Kubuntu 7.04 i386)

How can I make adept / apt-get understand that this is the disk I used?

the answer you're looking for is problably in
    Code:
    man apt-cdrom
but (forgive my asking) why do you want to install from cdrom?
why not do things over the net?

      Re: software installation trouble

I am trying to install from packages I downloaded from the net, but both apt-get and adept ask for the installation CD. I thought that either of them would normally try to get what ever they are looking for right off the net. They look on the net for what ever package I tell them to install but during the installation they both ask for the CD.

I dare say that the according entries in /etc/apt/sources.list don't match up with the CD label ...
You may either (try to) update these entries - or remove them completely.

right then...remove the cdrom entry from you config file.
you'll find it in adept under: adept -> manage repositories.

That was the ticket! I can't believe it was that simple. Man, this is so much better than Windoze. Thank you all.
