    dvd editor

what software should I use to edit a dvd?
I have a homemade dvd, and want to take selected portions, join these together and export the result to dvd (or mpeg).

    TIA

It looks like the only video editor in the repositories (your first source for software) is kino. It looks like a pretty good one, but I've never used it, nor seen it.

If all you want to do is to make a DVD out of video segments, you can do that with K3b (the CD/DVD burner provided with Kubuntu). If you want to make one file out of several, ffmpeg can do that. (Install it from the repos if you need to. Make sure you read the man page first.)
You may need the "universe" or "multiverse" repositories enabled to use one or both of these. Enable them with "kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources.list" and adding "universe" and/or "multiverse" to the line beginning
      Code:
      deb [url]http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/[/url] feisty
      (your URL may vary).

While typing this whole thing, eriefisher seems to have summed it up with one word. :P

If the file is on avi format u need tovid, go here:

        http://tovid.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Follow the instructions and install it.

Once u have tovid installed, do this from the konsole (way faster than the GUI)

        tovid -in nameofthefile.avi -out nameofthefile.mpg

Once that is finished u will have a complete compatible DVD editable format file. You may also want ManDVD, check this out:

        http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Multi...VD-12812.shtml

        Pretty self explanatory
