Squiggly DVD video in Kaffeine

Like the subject says. I set my laptop up according to the wiki and using the apps from medibuntu. When I play a DVD the video is lines of horizontal dots. Kind of like when you try and run your monitor at too high a resolution. I ran the test and it appears OK. Any ideas?

I tried totem-xine. The intro played (more than Kaffeine would do) but when I tried to play the movie it complained about encrypted or lack of libdcss which I have installed. Any other ideas?

Unsupported encryption springs to mind.

But it may also be related to the other problems that may stem from the new libata...

Hmmm, this is my DVD playback install string... try it out or use bits of it.... maybe it will help:

apt-get install vlc libdvdread3 libdvdplay0 libdvdnav4 totem-xine libxine-extracodecs ogle ogle-gui

Thanks for the suggestion. I added libdvdplay and nav, but no joy. I tried a different DVD. Kaffiene was still squiggly, but totem played it fine. Oh well.
