Adept Manager

No matter what I try to install(trying to get Smart PM so I can ditch AM, but this happens no matter what package) I get a warning that it can't be installed due to conflicts or other vague error and then it crashes.

Is there a way to fix this?

Many people report success with synaptic, as an alternative to adept.
