Error 22 No Active Partion Found

Help - I am stumped! No changes made to kubuntu prior to last shut down. On attempting to boot the above error appears and GRUB menu remains on screen. Can boot using Super GRUB disk and have tried re-installing GRUB with SGD but do difference. Can only boot with SGD. Why?

I don't know why it would have changed, but can you run gparted and confirm that the "boot" flag is set for your bootable partition?

I do not have gparted installed. Is it a gnome only app or will it run ok on kde? Me being dumb! Quite happy to install it.

In Kubuntu, you can get GParted.

I think through: K-Menu > System? > Adept Package Manager

Type into the search window gparted, it will find it, click around to request and install.

        Then do what dibl said.

To set a boot flag in GParted:
Partition > Manage flags > boot.

One of your drives must be marked a "boot" and must have a MBR with a bootloader. You're probably just missing the boot flag.
