    Problems installing Kubuntu on Laptop

Hi guys, i have an acer laptop, with an amd Turion 64 x2 Processor.

I tried using the standard kubunto 7.04 install disk for 1386 processors in order to install kubuntu, however, It does a few loading screens flashes a quick error, and then goes to a blank screen with a flashing cursor.

at first i thought it was a command prompt, But there was no USER@COMPNAME>

and any commands I typed in gave no response.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, although it has crossed my mind that im using the wrong installation CD. If anyone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it.

Try pressing F6 (I think) to get to options when grub is loading and add noapic after quiet splash so it looks like this below.

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.20-15-generic root=UUID=c9d3c58d-23ac-4716-a56d-9cf536aee16e ro quiet splash noapic

        Try this -- http://ubuntu.cs.utah.edu/releases/k...rnate-i386.iso

It's a text base install that worked for me.
