But I think the problem is somwhere here:

    Re: Very slow booting process!!

You have SATA disks and IDE cd/dvd drive(s), correct? If it is the case, disable the IDE channels in BIOS and see what happens. Apparently some of your IDE channel couldn't be set to full speed, so the OS got it back to PIO MODE3, which is likely to happen with CDs and DVDs drives. This is not a time consuming operation, the OS just asks if the drive supports this or that speed, and the drive answers "yes" or "no".
Anyway, since this is the only strange behavior in the lines you posted (from what I could see in a fast reading), try the BIOS thing and report back.

      Thanks for the reply!
Yes you are right! I have a SATA disk and one IDE disk, also have an IDE CD-ROM and an IDE DVD-rom!
I did that what you had offered, but the booting process still very slow! I think nothing changed!
      Here is the log:
      http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/28640/plain/

I will try pull out the IDE cables!

        Re: Very slow booting process!!

Yeah! Something wrong with my IDE disk or cd-rom or dvd-rom..
I think this should be a correct form of the boot (only 23sec)
        http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/28643/plain/

So I will re-plug my devices one by one!

          Re: Very slow booting process!!

          Okay I realized the problem!
My IDE CD-ROM was the problem, but it is strange because I installed kubuntu from this device and it is working good for several years... And it is working good under WinXP...
This situation is so sad for me because my IDE DVD-ROM isn't working good because of the too much usage! also the kubuntu install is very slow with my dvd-rom... Hahhh...
Any ideas how can I repair my CD-ROM?

p.s.: I tried to change IDE cable and change jumper but the CD-ROM still not working after these...

          I'm so sad..

            Re: Very slow booting process!!

Too much of a hassle if you try to repair your drive. For around 20 bucks you can get a very modern drive in Newegg.
And accept the fact that todays drives are not yesterdays Creative/Pinnacle/Sony drives, they are supposed to die in around 2 years of use, if that much. Some companies survive by selling their drives, like LiteOn. I have a LTD163 from 2002, it's almost failing, but a 5 years lifecycle is good for todays standards. I would recommend LiteOn.
As for Linux, try enabling or disabling DMA for this device. Windows XP has it enabled by default, try to set your Linux to behave the same way with this device and see if it works.

Hi I have the same problem but I cannot remove my IDE device because it is my HDD and Kubunku was installed in there.

So is it possible to force it to set the speed that work with the device?

If yes where can I set this thing and where can I find my boot log?

                Re: Very slow booting process!!

You can find a boot log typing "dmesg" in a command line.

The best way to know if you really suffer the above problem is typing (or pasting) in a command line:

                Code:
                $ dmesg | grep xfermode
This will output all the lines of the kernel log with wht word xfermode in them. It somethin like "ata2.01: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)" appears, you have the above problem.

If it is really this problem, then you have hit a kernel or controller bug:

                http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/6/3/67

The easiest solution right now is using an older Kubuntu version like 6.10.

The advanced solution involves patching and compiling your own kernel. Yes, it sound scary. Yes it somewhat complex.

                Javier.
