liveCD works, installation won't!!! I have no choice but ask

could you please help!
Kubuntu DVD feisty Fawn boots Ok and I have a usable desktop to work with. BUT I have not been able to install it on a Thinkpad T30. Installation goes well untill it gets to the seclect and install software process. A popup box reports back that butil...deb or something is broken, that my DVDrom is corrupt while in fact I have checked the DVD and it is in good condition.

I had to fall back on an Edgy Eft DVD and strangely I got the same report and could not install Kubuntu.

I booted into the GUI and installed from there using the install icon on the desktop sreen and installation got stuck dead at 15%. the mouse was dead and I had to do a hot reboot.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have used these to DVD to install successfully on some laptops and desktops. and they are intact. they are not corrupt whatsoever.

I have had some problems with DVD'S and installing. My suggestion would be to use the alternative CD as this still seams to work better on some hardware.
