    Live CD fails to work

    Hi everyone,

I booted from the Desktop Edition of Linux Kubuntu 7.04 and opted for Start or Install Kubuntu. Then it looks like the system is loading, but then it suddenly stops and I get a black screen with a cursor. Normally, the black screen would go away after some time, but now it doesn't. How can I solve this problem? Thank you very much in advance.

PS: I am using an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo (2.0 GHz, 1024 MB RAM).

Just a suspicion -- the next time you see that blinking cursor, hit Alt-F1, and see if a login prompt appears. If so, the problem is the video driver and we can probably help you get to a GUI (you do want a GUI desktop, right?). You'll need to tell us about your graphics card or chip and the motherboard.

It is quite strange, but today my Live CD loaded just fine.

      Information on my graphics card:

      Chipset Model: ATY,RadeonX1600
      Type: Display
      Bus: PCIe
      VRAM (Total): 128 MB
      Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Great -- I think you have successfully intimidated it into submission!
