Created and booted from Alternate Install CD (Intel i386)

    Hi everyone,

Goodmorning (for almost everybody in Europe and some parts of Africa). I am quite new to Linux (although I have used Kubuntu on an irregular basis the past two years). I have created by accident an Alternate Install CD. Should I download a new "regular"/desktop CD (i386) for my Intel based iMac (Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz, 1024 MB RAM)? Then I need to start-up from this CD by pressing (or tapping) the 'C' key on my keyboard, right? How long is this release supported (I thought till October 2008, but this could be wrong).

Where can I find the latest documentation (both in HTML and PDF, I believe it is called Desktop Guide or KubuntuWiki) for my specific Kubuntu version (Feisty Fawn, 7.04)?

Is Kubuntu 7.04 available in Spanish/Español, just like 6.0.6.1 LTS? I don't mind if it is Latin American Spanish (this is preferred as well), but "Castellano" is fine as well (they are almost the same languages). How could I install Dutch (The Netherlands) and English (U.S. or U.K.) languages next to Spanish on my computer. Could I get support in Spanish (Español) somewhere for Linux as well? It isn't really necessary, since I speak English quite good.

How much hard drive space do you recommend for a regularly used Kubuntu release (I do minor photos/video editing, I make very much powerpoint/word/excel documents and surf the Internet frequently)? I have 148 GB and about 130 GB free.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

PS: Where can I get help to get my wireless card (Airport Extreme with a/b/g/n support) working with Feisty Fawn (7.04)? Or does it work automatically if you have all your networking information (like passwords and ESSID)?

Re: Created and booted from Alternate Install CD (Intel i386)

I have booted from a Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) install/live CD, which was successful. I must say that the system looks very nice :-) My compliments to every developer and all the people from the support team (they are of course very important as well).

Since I have already booted from an alternate install CD, I somehow only can select the option to partition my hard drive (158 GB) "manually".

Attached are some screenshot of the errors I get and what options I have chosen. Below are my chosen options (of the install wizard) in text:

    Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)
    Language: Spanish (U.S.)
    Keyboard layout: English (U.S.)
    Timezone: Amsterdam (GMT +2)
Partitioning: 158 GB HFS+ (or something like this, it is a Mac-only format) hard drive space, approx. 12-15 GB used, so about 145 GB free.

    free space
    /media/EFI ; fat32 (or swap);
/dev/sda1 ; ext2 (system partition); 6,26 GB (of which 3.35 GB is used)
    free space
    /dev/sda3 ; reiserf (?) ; 134 MB
My Macintosh HD isn't shown, is this normal? As previously stated it has 158 GB hard disk space.

I think I have found some information on the Internet, which could solve my problem. Anyway, thanks in advance for your help.

See http://bin-false.org/?p=17 for a possible method to nip my problem in the bud.
