Mouse not recognized by Microsoft Virtual PC 2007

    Hi,

on Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Kubuntu does not recognize my standard USB mouse. No problem with Kubuntu 6.06 or 6.10.
    Is there a solution?

    Thanks,
    Andreas

    I see it's a known bug, #87262.

What to do now? Install Edgy or Dapper again?

    Thanks,
    Andreas

      Is it a "mouse-specific" or a "usb-specific" problem? - In other words:

      - Does rewriting the "mouse-specific" section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf change anything?
      - Do other usb devices (external harddisks, printers and the like) function properly?

(Sorry for remaining vague. but as a dedicated VMware user, guessing is all I'm able to offer ...)

Re: Mouse not recognized by Microsoft Virtual PC 2007

I suspect it is mouse specific,
because MS Virtual PC does not seem to support USB devices,
        or have I missed something?

But I am not totally sure.
Also I did not have the time to investigate it further,
so I simply switched to VirtualBox,
where 7.04 runs pretty well so far. :-)

        The only drawback was,
I had to reformat one partition of my harddisk,
        because on my FAT32 partitions
I could not get a virtual harddrive larger than 4GB,
but I needed that space. :-(

The VirtualBox ran up to the point of 4GB,
then it paused with an out of mem error.
After I had a NTFS partition ready I could move the virtual disk to it,
and continue using the 7.04 installation. :-)

But it still would have been nice,
if I would not had to reinstall on another virtualiser,
this took me one whole day more,
so the problem is not irrelevant, I think.

        Best,
        Andreas

This isn't a virtual PC issue the lateest kernel has a PS2 bug. A lot of regular installations have reported this problem.
