    blind and slow boot

Though experiencing one or another problem installing Herd3, I finally managed it.

But it still isn't a very satisfying experience. I'm used Linux gets to the login prompt in about 45 seconds and X to start in about 15 seconds after startx. And while booting, messages should scroll over the screen and I can see what's going on.

But starting Feisty from GRUB to seeing the X mouse cursor takes over 3
minutes. And the screen went blank (black but had a signal, otherwise it would have switched to power-safe) after the "Starting up ..." message and the next was the X cursor.

Is that normal? If yes, why and how to change that to normal and fast?

Starting Herd3 in Recovery mode I see various messages on the screen but then after some time it says "suspending console" and it's black again.

    Bye, Robert
