    Secondary HD (After Install)

I recently decided to put in a secondary (slave) ide drive in my computer after Kubuntu was already installed. However instead of completely booting, I kept getting pages and pages of initram ata1.01 error messages. Is there a way to install this secondary harddrive sucessfully and not run into this problem?

It should be quite possible to add that second drive. Questions:

-- Are you using jumpers to set "Master" and "Slave", or the "cable select" method? If "cable select", do you have the jumpers in the appropriate position (i.e. "CS")?

-- Is it clear in the BIOS that the one you mean to be "second" is actually in second position on the IDE bus?

-- Any other hard drives on that PC? Any other IDE devices?

-- In BIOS, do you have the "boot sequence" set so it is (1) CD ROM, (2) first hard drive (your original one)?
