I'm using Amarok to sync my iPod and noticed that I can set what version of iPod I have. I know I have a 60GB Video iPod but not sure if it's 4G or 5G and if it's a 4G then which of the two it is (x9586 or x9830) or if it even matters. I just want it to work perfectly. Model of iPod as stated on back: A1136

Re: iPod Version
You need more than the Generation (5G) and Model (A1136) to know what size of iPod you have. You also need to know the Part Number:
Generation Storage Color Part Number1 A Number2
5g 30GB Normal (white) MA002 1136
30GB Normal (black) MA146
60GB Normal (white) MA003
60GB Normal (black) MA147
1 - The part number can be found in the Settings->About menu as 'Model' on your iPod. Alternatively check your SysInfo file.
2 - The A-Number can be found on the back of the iPod as 'Model No'. They are not as reliable identifiers as the part numbers.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.
