    Automount of USB NTFS Drive

    Hi all,

I did a search of USB and NTFS in the forum and all the solutions seem to not work for me. I did install ntfs-3G fuse thingy.

Prior to running Kubuntu Feisty, I used to run Ubuntu Edgy and it was all fine. I did not test on Ubuntu Feisty so I am unsure whether this is a Kubuntu thing.

I can live without writing to NTFS (got used to it after so many years) but I need to be like plug in and it gets mounted and an icon shows up on the desktop.

I do not believe that is too much to ask, since anything larger than a 40GB partition in a Windows world must be in NTFS.

    Please assist.

    Eric

Once it's mounted, go to media:/ in Konqueror. Find the drive, and right-click > Mounting > Mount automatically.

You may also want to add an fstab entry (but since this is a USB drive, make sure you use the UUID and not the device node).
    For external use only.

Hmm... System Settings > User Management > Administrator Mode. You should be one of the users right there.
Make sure your groups list (Modify > Secondary Groups) looks similar to this one:
        Code:
adm, admin, audio, cdrom, dialout, dip, floppy, games, lpadmin, mail, plugdev, scanner, video
        For external use only.
