You don't need to know coding.

Assuming (since we're under the Dapper category) that you're considering installing Dapper, you want to make your CD with this:

      http://ubuntu-releases.cs.umn.edu//k...sktop-i386.iso

      NOT this:

      http://ubuntu-releases.cs.umn.edu//k...ktop-amd64.iso

      for your E6300 system.

Possibly one of the other servers will be closer for your download, but take note of the ISO file version that you want.

        Re: General 64 bit support?

I installed dapper, 32bit edition on my desktop. internet works perfect, no drivers to install. printer is detected aswell, no drivers to install. COOL!

I'm gona try to play my animes. they use the Xvid codec, see what happens.

I am also gonna install 6.06 or 6.10 on my laptop ( old ibm thing). i have both cds. I tried 6.06 but it gives error, which i will post soon once I reproduce it.

          Re: General 64 bit support?

I'm glad I've found this forum on Kubuntu 64 bits!!!
Going on with the flash-animations in Firefox you can install through the Adept list: Klash - Gnash SWF viewer for KDE, so Firefox can handle sites OK, as good as with a MM-Flash_Player plug-in installed.

But In Kubuntu you have, let's say, 3 ways "to go to Rome", I mean, to install / update things, right? In Adept, you may find icons of the above mentioned utilities (regular view) or a list if you're following in the update notification manager. In Synaptic, there are more details and so on... In the second one, I found some plug-ins and other stuff for flash-like animations and I've installed them, besides the Klash (and Gnash). Now I see flash animations.

Now, one big problem remains: Java_R.E. Not only is complicated, but it (very often) stops and then lock the Adept routines, not allowing you to install/update anything more and you have to solve this (see several of this: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3084407.0)

Go "64bits" people, go! Let's get 64 bits' Flash Player and Java R. E. for real!
