If you search this site ( the third blue button above the message area) or the Kubuntu wiki, you'll find a lot of references to your wireless adaptor.

HERE <- I replied to your latest post. This should fix your problems. If not, come into #kubuntu on irc.freenode.net or message me at nixternal on any chat client you can think of, because I have them, and I will be more then welcome to help you out.

        Re: zv6000 &bcm4318 not working

@1Richard: The kernel glitch to which you refer is in the PPC kernel and applies only to certain (I don't know which) apple laptops with the Broadcom chip. If the solution in the wiki doesn't work, try the ndiswrapper technique

1richard I found this thread in the Ubuntu forums and was able to get my wireless working. Maybe it will work for your bcm4318.

            Giving up

After many hours, I am giving up on Dapper for now.

I tried everything that I was directed to, and searched the internet, and nothing works for me, so I will use it for windows till dapper fully recognizes the Broadcom 4318, I still think it is a bug in the kernel. Thanks for all the help anyway. I have dapper on my dektop and I like it, but not on a notebook. I will be checking back every so often to see if there is a good fix available for the 4318 chip.

              Re: zv6000 &bcm4318 not working

1richard, your HP laptop is very similar to my Compaq R4125US laptop. The chipset may even be the same. If so you might try blacklisting the Broadcom via the following commands:

              echo 'blacklist bcm43xx' | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
              sudo rmmod bcm43xx

Then install ndiswrapper in the manner described in the Ubuntu wiki here:

              https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...er/Ndiswrapper

I use the drivers I downloaded from Compaq/HP. The file I used is:

              SP31463.exe

After you get ndiswrapper working via the wiki do this:

              sudo apt-get install knetworkmanager

Then you should be able to connect to any network including WPA encrypted ones as long as you have the key. The key is to get a Windows driver that works with your version of ndiswrapper.

Hope this helps and good luck.
