    making programs launch on startup

I am relatively new to kubuntu, and would like to know how to make programs launch on start-up. I know there is the session restoring thinger, where if i leave an app up on shutdown, it launches on boot, but is there any other way to make certain programs (such as Yakuake) to launch when I start up?

    Thanks in advance!

Place program links that you wish to run on KDE startup into ~/.kde/Autostart

    Or

    use this:
    Autostart (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=32517)
    Description:
Autostart is a KDE control center module for configuring which applications
start up when KDE inits (after a login).
    Autostart Kubuntu package (http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=35038)

thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I've been trying to make a file executable and be run on startup, so that it sets my multimedia keys to F20, F21, etc for use as global shortcuts. but other than just checking the "executable" box in the permissions, i don't know how to. any ideas?

hmm - is this what you are trying to do ? -->

From: Getting those multimedia keys to work in Kubuntu
        http://www.digg.com/linux_unix/Getti...ork_in_Kubuntu

Simple solution to this - enable keyboard layouts and select Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro in kcontrol> regional and accessability> keyboard layout if your keyboard isn't already listed. It works with just about any multimedia keyboard out there. Then go to keyboard shortcuts and program them. The bonus here - if you reinstall or upgrade your multimedia keys stay programmed rather than you having to repeat the process again.
