hi, i've suddenly ran into a problem with Kubuntu, i run a dual boot between Kubuntu and Win XP and i hadn't used Kubuntu for a week or so (was downloading F.E.A.R. Combat on 256k, it's a 1.7GB FILE!) and i wanted to get into Kubuntu so i turn the PC on and select Kubuntu from the GRUB loader, and it loads everything normally (with all the OK's on the Right side) and the bar under the word Kubuntu in the middle of the screen fills, but then the screen goes blank, returns back with the work Kubuntu in the middle, and sits there. doing nothing. until i press CTRL-ALT-DELETE and it starts unloading everything on the same screen, in preparation for reboot.
my specs are:
AMD Athlon64 3500+ Venice 939
Inno3D GeForce 6800GS 256MB
1GB DDR400 RAM
DFI NForce 4 Ultra Infinity MOBO
before anyone asks, it HAS worked before, i have even played planet penguin racer on it :P
also, if it isn't already obvious, i'm fairly new to Linux, and this was only installed 2 weeks ago, and it took ages to fully patch up which is why i'm not so eager to simply reinstall it as all those patches hurt lots when your stuck on 256K and i simply don't know what to do, i cannot access any of the Linux Partitions from windows as they are EXT3(is that right?) so i cannot transfer anything off it (nothing REALLY important there anyway, besides the updates.)
please help.
