[c] I have issues with KDE freezing up post-installation.
I am new to Kubuntu, not Linux/Unix. Have installed & used Mandrake/Gentoo/Fedora/Solaris-x86 & Sparc for a while now.
My System specs:
- Kubuntu (no dual boot); Setup using the AMD64 Alt CD (the Live CD and the i386 did not work)
- Abit KV-85 w/ AMD Sempron 3000+, 1GB DDR
- 160GB HDD, nVIDIA GeForce MX4000 AGP 8X
- 20" Widescreen LCD connected via VGA (get kernel panics if I use the DVI connector)
I can't get to the system or X logs since KDE freezes up at the User Login screen -OR- immediately after
the User desktop appears (sometimes the User login goes thru).
Couple of questions:
1. Is there a way I can boot to a console prompt to get to the logs?
2. Anyone else seeing such issues?
From all I hear/read, Kubuntu is the most popular Linux distribution and I would like to move my
desktop into this realm.
Any help and/or advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance,
- Raj.
