I installed 5.10 from a DVD i purchased in Linuxmagazine and installed ubuntu(I have been using only debian derivatives). Later i sihfted to kde and very nearly converted to Kubuntu. When i went to upgrade to 6.06 using update manager, it keeps on repeating that i release atleast 400 mb space in /var/cache/apt/archives while i have more than 600 mb free space in /var partition. i have apt-get cleaned and the trash emptied also.Still no further progress. Can anybody say whats the problem ?

Re: upgrading to 6.06
I had the same problem when I updated my Laptop. I just cleaned the entire cache directory. I manually deleted all the packages. Then the upgrade went fine. If you are afraid to just remove all the packages, burn them to cd's or a dvd and then delete them. Upgrading takes quite a bit of working space for the process to complete.
