Cant get into ubuntu

Well, I use kubuntu but my friend uses ubuntu and he said that it was better...me being a die-hard kubuntu fan had to see it on my computer (he said it was faster). So I go and install the ubuntu-dekstop, so far so good. Now, whenever I try to log-in using GNOME (from the drop-down menu) it loads the kubuntu splash backround (not the splash itself, just the backround) and hangs. I can still log into kde fine though. I think that the problem originates from me installing xubuntu-desktop a little bit ago (another friend), but I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Try this:

sudo update-alternatives --config usplash-artwork.so

Ah well I'm just gona stick with kubuntu and xubuntu...thanks anyway though :-)
