    Bug on install option

Hi, ive found a bug i think..

After choosing to install Kubuntu straight off the DVD i get the usual message:

    "Uncompressing Linux. Booting Kernel.."

This hangs for a while and then the install terminates with the following error:
" ALERT! /dev/ram/ does not exist. Dropping to console."

    Goes to:
    Busybox.. etc etc..

then "/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off"
this just gives me a shell at the end..

I burned the DVD in Nero 6.
    The DVD's are Samsung Pleomax DVD+R 8X 4.7 GB burned at 8x.

Im installing this on a HP Vectra VL400 with a P3 1 Ghz CPU, 512 Kingston Ram, and a old quantum fireball HDD.. I know the machine is okay, I installed SUSE 10 a week ago from the same drive and on the same HDD..

    Re: Bug on install option

I'm afraid you've fallen victim to a (now) well known bug in the Espresso Installer on the DVD. I hope that it did not also swallow your windows installation as it has done to many people.

In order to install (K)Ubuntu, I suggest downloading and burning the install CD of the Breezy (5-10) release. A stable release of Dapper is expected to be available on June 1. I have no suggestions with regard to retrieving your windoze partition, if it was destroyed.
