Hello, i have a problem trying to boot Windows XP Media Center from cd.
The problem first started when i attempt a duel boot from one hard drive useing Windows XP Media Center and Unix Kubuntu. Should have known better than to play around, story of my life i guess. First thing i done was boot Unix Kubuntu live CD, then it asks me if i would like to install, which i said yes. Then it goes on to set up time and passwords etc, then last stage was to partition the hard drive which i made a complete big woooper dooper mess off. Stupid numpty me asked it to completely clear the hard drive for instalation of Unix Kubuntu, thought not a big loss i will just reinstall XP Media (HA HA). Only to find that the PC was pre installed with an OEM Windows XP Media Edition. s#!? Next step was ask a friend to borrow his XP disk, (that was a copy) but it would not boot from cd. Thought it must be an upgrade disk or something. So i thought my next step was to download it from torrent site demonoid which i did. This is what the uploader said.
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 OEM
Hi this is the origional OEM install discs for Windows XP Media Center Edition2005 . This is in .iso fromat and is unaltered just ripped straight to iso This contains 3 discs in iso format
I will not Provide any serial numbers or carcks for this software,
I am providing this file as a resource as i have found it very difficult to obtain the origional discs for reloading clients computers as System builders tend not to provid the OEM disks with the computers anymore.
Hope this can help any IT technicians or home users wanting to reaload from scratch.
I will say again i am not providing any serials or cracks with this software so do not ask me and do not use the forum to ask and only use this disk to install on system which have the relevant windows COA on the side.
I know it's ilegal to download such material but my moto is its better to ask forgiveness than to ask permition. (Sorry if this ofends anyone always been a rouge)
So i download and burnt to disk and gave it a bash (not as in bash through around room) shoor enough would not boot from disk . So then i went into bios to check it was booting from correct rom drive, which it was. So i checked the XP downloaded disks on laptop to see if it would boot and it did.
The next step was buy another hard drive which i installed, then boot from XP disk again, still nothing just black screen as before. So i tried Kubuntu cd a that did boot from cd.
Think i have covered everything that i have done any help wiill be greatful.
ps. does anyone know of good online shop for purchese of origanal Windows XP Media Edition if i need to.
Thanks Gluebag
