What's the diff in Nvidia drivers?

I'm installing Dapper tonite, replacing Breezy. On Breezy, I used Automatix to get the Nvidia drivers and I believe it got the actual Nvidia ones.

What is the difference, if any, in using the drivers straight from Nvidia vs. the Nvidia-glx ones from the repositories? I play a lot of 3d games and don't want performance to suffer.

    Thanks!

The drivers straight from nvidia are hard to install, unless you use automatix, which may not be advisable, or even possible. They are also slightly newer than the ones in Dapper. The Dapper ones came from nvidia a month or two ago. Personally I'm using the Dapper version and I'm getting what I regard as acceptable results on glxgears (YMMV, I'm not a gamer).
