I'd like to add an external USB disk to my Kubuntu system. Is that supported? Are there any caveats as to brand, capacity or anything else?

It should automatically mount it or at least put an icon showing you plugged something in. To unmount it just right click, chose safely remove, wait for the little green corner to disappears and you can unplug it. basicly all disk and flash drives of any type should be reconized with no effort. -
