Kubuntu as semi rolling release

First, add PPA backports:
https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+...untu/backports

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update

Second, update and upgrade:

sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

Third, add enable the Pre-release and Unsupported updates repositories:
Muon > Settings > Configure Software Sources > Updates

Fourth, run commands in Second step again.

P. S. I take no credit for any of this and if there's a mistake, it's all mine. I've merely taken posts from Snowhog, Claydoh and other sage members of this forum that were scattered around in several threads and put them in one thread so that I can find them again. Just note that the Pre-Release Updates only gets you SRU and other updates for existing software, not new versions that would fit a rolling release model. This repo is for testers to make sure things are not broken before they go to the Main repo. As a testing repo, it can be less than stable sometimes. You will be getting things tested in there within a few days via the main repo, usually. Often less if it is a serious security issue.


As for the Unsupported repo, well, for 19.10 there is (mostly) nothing there. Nothing useful outside of Ubuntu's Cockpit server manager. So this repo is essentially useless for the purpose.
