Battery Icon Doesn't Show Remaining Time

With and without an external monitor connected, hovering the mouse over the Battery only shows the % left and no estimate of remaining time. So I don't know when I should panic when using battery.

I have done further testing and I now find that when an external monitor is connected the estimate of remaining time is not present. However, when the external monitor is remove and my laptop is rebooted, the remaining time shows with the percentage of battery left.
