    [LAPTOP] Gparted resize problem?

    Hi, there,

I install kubuntu 18.04 in the all hard drive of my laptop. Now I want to install a windows in this kubuntu, I need to allocate 40 gb for windows. However, I cannot resize partition. My computer information is as following:
    user@F5RL:~$ sudo blkid
    /dev/sda1: UUID="f0b70293-9ae5-4fbf-9719-9c8139c2dc23" TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="4f23e716-01"

    user@F5RL:~$ sudo fdisk -l
    Disk /dev/sda: 149.1 GiB, 160041885696 bytes, 312581808 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disklabel type: dos
    Disk identifier: 0x4f23e716

Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
    /dev/sda1 * 2048 312580095 312578048 149.1G 83 Linux

Does anyone help me with this?
    Thanks in advance!

You're not saying why you can't resize your partition or what you've tried, so I'll guess:

You can't resize an active partition. The safest way to do this is to download "gparted live" and burn it to USB. Once you're booted the the gparted live USB, you can modify your hard drive partitions.

Couple of things you need to know:
I believe windows will require you to use EFI while Kubuntu does not. You will need an EFI partition as well as your Windows partition.
Moving your partitions is dangerous and sometimes will trash your data. If anything on there is of value, make a backup BEFORE you boot to gparted.

There's an easier way to use Windows: Install VirtualBox and install Windows to a Virtual Machine - no re-partitioning or EFI required. I have a couple Win10 VMs, Win7 Ultimate and Win8 Pro for my uses. Consider doing that instead.

Thanks, oshunluvr. Yes, I can not resize an active partition. The problem is I cannot boot from CD and USB, because I have a lock BIOS admin password. I need to install a window to fix this problem. In Kubuntu, I try cmospwd to clean BIOS admin password, however, it is not successful. My BIOS lock my wifi, I can only use wired internet.
