    Setting Up a VNC Server?

I'm interested in setting up a headless VNC server, but I can't find any tutorials that are timely and don't use generic Ubuntu for their VNC capability.

Can someone run me through a quick VNC server installation (I'm not sure what is easiest to install, I heard that TightVNC was ok)?

      TightVNC uses the xfce4 desktop.

You can install xfce (but your headless server will have a head) and it will be available during login. It is very light and quick, but doesn’t near the power & flexibility of Plasma.

Yeah, what GG said: "Headless" generally means "without a graphical interface". VNC requires a GUI, so therefore cannot be headless. Maybe you had a hard time searching for "headless VNC"?

Now if you're just looking to manage a server without having to do everything from the terminal, I suggest Webmin. No GUI required on the server side and uses a browser interface. It's quite good and very complete. Even shows real-time mem and cpu stats.

I would suggest using NX but with NX4 it now works more like VNC the NX used to work .. If you can install NX3 you can have a true headless server with remote GUI ability .

When I was running a SuSE 6.4 server in my office I used an early version of webmin to maintain it from my workstation. I don't remember what it was called but according to the docs here:
            https://doxfer.webmin.com/Webmin/Main_Page
its look & feel is pretty much the same.

However, I noticed that it does NOT have the ability to manage Btrfs filesystems. Webmin is using MDADM to control various raid configs. A contributor added a Btrfs module in Oct of 2014.
