Kubuntu 18.04 on screen keyboard by default

So I got Kubuntu 18.04 running on this device which I have liberated, free now from its windows 8 shackles. Even got the strange non-intel wifi working.

But for the life of me, I cannot figure how to get the on screen keyboard to work in a similar fashion to, for example, an android tablet.

I am quite confident that I am missing something simple.

what "on screen keyboard" the one in the login screen ?

it dose not work like that , as in pop open when a text field takes focus .

in fact that on screen keyboard is not even supposed to be their , if thats the one your talking about !

their is an app called onboard that may do what you want , do you have a touch screen ?
