Is it possible to create a new first level menu?
I can create a Submenu but I don't want that.

Hi !

Yes:

1) Start the KMenu editor
2) Unpick the selection
- this can be done by sorting all by name
3) Create a new top level sub menu



There is a bug - Bug 345100 - The menu editor doesn't properly save new icons for submenus: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=345100

A workaround is copy/move/link the directory to the right place:

From $HOME/.local/share/New Menu.directory to $HOME/.local/share/desktop-directories/New Menu.directory



and refresh the icon cache:

kbuildsycoca5 --noincremental

Note!
Empty menus are not shown.
